compression stockings , question????

Question:
I am considering asking the podiatrist for compression stockings to aid in the reduction of the tissue swelling in my feet and legs. Has anybody used these and how did they work for you?? I know there are varying degrees of compression and I am hoping the doctor will know what might work for me, but I am interested to know of any experience that some of you may have had with them.

Answer: I have used compression stocking, that came up to the knee on both legs, because of a varicose vein problem. I found they worked great and my legs were not as tired at the end of the day. The only drawback was wearing them in the summer time in the heat and having to hold them up with glue. I understand that they do not use glue any more. The ones I had were of a heavy compression (if that is the word). I had to put them on before getting out of bed in the morning. I have just ordered a lighter compression stocking that comes up to the thigh and the silicone in the stocking holds them up. I know a few Doctors who wear the compression stockings when in surgery all day. There are many different colours to chose from.
