Buh Bye Varicose Veins!!!!

Question:
Im so excited to share that I had my varicose veins zapped last Thursday and I'm so excited. Does anyone remember the poster about 6 mos ago who said people with vveins shouldn't wear shorts because it's so offensive? This started me on my quest, and the journey is over, phew! I was upset by the post, but it mobilized me for change remembering my mom having them her whole life. I had them in my left calf- green and purple bumps, visible even with dark stockings becuase they were so raised. I went on my insurance website and went to the Vascular Institue of the Rockies without a referral for an ultrasound. Then I called insur's customer service they said v veins aren't covered. Happily, the Dr.s office has a full time woman whose sole purpose is to get coverage, so Thurs morning I went for the procedure called RF Closure. They use a catheter to pulse electricity thru the vein, collapsing it, adn then remove them thru small stab like incisions. I have about 8 of these up my calf, plus a 3/4 inch incision near the achilles tendon. Best of all, no green and purple bumps!! I love modern medicine! I had anesthesia, which made me nervous, but I was completely out for 2 3/4 hours. They said I would be talking to the Drs. but not remember anything. Weird. I find out tomorw if I actually did have any conversations at the follow-up lol. I feel great, went to yoga today and only tood one vicodan Thurs nite cuz it was there. I feel better prepared to greet 40 this December somehow! Now if I can just lose 20.... Feel free to email me with any questions.

Answer: -Good for you for doing something about them. my mom suffered with them as well and i consider myself lucky to have not followed in her footsteps (yet). -This reminds me. I posted around May/June that I was starting a series of sessions to hopefully eliminate spider veins. I just had the last treatment around the first of October and Yes, the treatments did work and I am very very pleased. I had about 10 treatments and at the moment, I have no spider veins. Of course, you can still get new ones but the old ones are gone. The treatments are relatively easy to endure. However, if you have varicose veins and spider veins it is my understanding that the varicose veins must be treated first or it is somewhat useless to have the schlerotherapy.
