Question:
I just noticed on my left calf this huge green vein popping out on my calf, and it hurts. Is this varicose veins from the pill? how would I know if it were to develop deep vein thrombosis? this runs in my family, my grandfather had it and so did my mom (that is why she had to go off the pill..blood clot in the leg.)

Answer: -I've had a deep vein thrombosis in my left calf. What kind of pain are you experiencing? Mine felt like a charley horse. I would go to your doctor to have it checked out, especially since it runs in your family. I was on the pill when it happened to me and I had to go off of it right away. I hope so. How do you get rid of a varicose vein? and if it is G-d forbid deep vein thrombosis, how do they get rid of the clot? -It could be a blood clot. Though if the vein is hard and visible, it's most likely a superficial one (far less serious than a deep one.) Give your doctor a call, just to be on a safe side. -I thought the pill was contraindicated for people who had a family history of varicose viens and/or deep vien thrombosis. I hope it turns out to be a simple thing for you.
