Question: Has anyone had any success getting rid of them? Let me know how. I am only 14 years old and I already have dark spider veins. I am also getting varicose veins. (My mom has them too, but only when she is pregnant.) Can you help me? I am very embarrassed about them.
Answer: -Several factors, or combination of factors, may explain the cause of your spider veins, including constipation, a low-fiber diet, heavy lifting, long periods of standing and poor circulation. The good news is, there are measures you can take to keep the problem from getting worse. Try the following: • Start eating a high-fiber diet. • Avoid heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing. • Raise feet on a foot stool when sitting. • Get regular exercise. • Supplement with vitamin C (1,000 mg. per day); bioflavonoids (1000 mg. per day); vitamin E (400 IU per day); and pycnogenols (150 mg. per day). -Varicose veins are blue bulges that develop when veins can't return blood to the heart efficiently. Blood pools in the veins, making them dilate. That hinders the valves' ability to close tightly and stop backward blood flow. Eventually, veins may become permanently dilated and scarred, causing swollen, tired legs and muscle cramps. Walking is helpful for both preventing varicose veins and easing the discomfort they cause. Many walkers report that, although they don't go away, they tend to feel less painful. Why? Walking helps increase circulation and may help relieve the "heavy" feeling varicose vein sufferers often have in their legs. In fact, legs have been called "the second heart" because walking helps veins pump blood back to the heart. -There are peer-reviewed studies which show that Escin (horse chestnut extract) helps with certain vein problems. Some people think that is many also help spider and varicous veins. Ginkgo biloba which aid peripheral circulation may also help.
