Spider Veins Chicago, info???

Question:
A while ago as I sat here doing something a very small spider "rappeled" down from the ceiling between me and the monitor. (Actually, probably wasn't a spider, probably was a daddy-lon-legs--dint think to look that closely). Since I think spiders and such are part of the good guys, I left her alone. She wandered around the desk a bit, checkedout my spelling book and an emery board, then climbed back up to the ceiling. I had this flash of an old Star Trek thing with the radio message "There is no intelligent life here, beam me back up." (Sorry none of the Trekkies are in residence today. I can quote you show-act-scene-line where that came from.)

Answer: -Found out some of that when I appealed to the local dictionary a while ago (too lazy to go upstairs where bird-bug-critter (and encyclopaedia) are). Seems like I've been where "crane flies" were and dint enjoy their company. Seems like they were eating me--I could be misrembering the name. Here ("here" being the parts of the US I know anything about) the name applies to a small critter that looks like a spider (most people call them spiders unless they are working on a bar-bet)--nearly spherical body the size of a lucifer match-head or a little larger, legs that look like they have far too many joints, and leg-lengths in the inches for larger ones (fairly common). Some can span the palm of your hand. Their antenae look about like their legs and they tap the terrain in their direction of travel (like a blind person with two sticks) so it looks like they have 8 legs (archnidae) but they only have 6 ([forgot to look it up!]). These guys are really fond of all sorts of insects that are thought by most to be pests. (You can tell that one has set up camp in a corner by the pile of empty bugs on the floor.) -we need to get another meeting going. I'm not sure I want to drive to Chicago again, but maybe something a little 'tweener would be appropriate sometime in the near future. I'll try to bring Cindy this time too. She was working the last time we met, but she has a regular job with regular hours now. And her demeanor is a lot better also.
