Question:
I just turned 30 and all at once have notice the widespread appearance of varicose veins and broken capillaries forming all over my legs and even my arms. Does anyone know of a very good and trustworthy dermatologist in the NY area that might be able to help me reduce the appearance of them? I know it sounds vain and trivial, but I am a young woman and have become extremely depressed over this since my legs just a few years ago were virtually belmish and vein free. I cant even wear a bathing suit or shorts without feeling ugly and embarrased. I would appreciate anyone's knowlege or help.

Answer: -There is a large laser center run by a group of dermatologists in Manahatttan. If I am not mistaken Dr. Geronemus (sp?) is with the group. They publish a great deal and are probably as cutting edge for such a group as there is. You might consider consulting with them. -My mother is a registered RN, and is licensed and owns her own business in electrolysis. As a third job she works for a "Laser" doctor(not sure of his title exactly). So she is real into different types of treatments. She has used these injections on vericose veins before. I think it was saline but I'll try and find out more. What you do is go "slightly" under the skin to the vein depth with the treatment. At one of the ends of the veins you slowly squeeze the injection and it instantly gets rid of the veins. I actually watched her do it once. But it definitely works. Not sure how well the laser works on veins and capillaries I'll have to ask her. I will get back with you.
