Question: I've been having recurring pain in my left leg for a couple of days now. Not horrible or anything, but I'd just as soon not have it, y'know? I'm feeling it in my groin (near the ligament that extends to the leg), in the inner thigh about a third of the way up from the knee, in the outer thigh about halfway up from the knee, back by the hamstring, and sometimes in my hip. The groin pain is sometimes more like an itch. Anyway, I checked books and sites to see what this could be. Everything is saying leg pain could be muscle spasms/cramps, varicose veins, thrombophlebitis, or sciatica. Well, it isn't a cramp or spasm, it doesn't sound like it's thrombo or sciatica, and that kind of leaves varicose veins. I do have a "heavy" feeling in the leg and there is sometimes an itch instead of pain (but in only one of the pain sites), but there are none of the visible signs of varicose and it seems sort of unlikely that so many veins would go varicose all at the same time, so I'm not really sure it's that either. Does anyone have any clue what this could be?
Answer: -I hope I can help with the groin pain. I have the same thing and I asked my dr about it last week. She said it's because my baby's head is down, and that's where all the baby weight is, and it's pressing on my nerve endings! Grrr! Some days it's worse than others, some days I can barely walk. I've threatened to take away her allowance if she doesn't move her head, but it's not working. -It could be restless leg syndrome. Have your dh massage your legs and ankles. Works wonders for me. -Does RLS recur? My leg isn't actually "restless", at least in the way they describe it as always wanting to move it around. I wonder also if it could just be unrelated to pregnancy. A friend said it could be fibromyalgia.
