Question: I have a fairly large varicose vein on the back of my right knee and recently began running again after a hiatus of a couple years. I'm having some pain on the inside part of my knee below the knee cap, and was wondering whether a vasricose vein could cause the pain? Any ideas?
Answer: -I have no idea if a varicose vein can cause the pain. However, I have read that running helps one to get rid of varicose vein because running exercises the blood vessels to contract and expand. -Actually, I've read that running actually makes varicose veins worse. Varicose veins are the result of faulty valves which are supposed to prevent the refluxing of blood (blood flow should be unidirectional).
