Question: Is there a dermatologist out there who knows whether vitamin K cream really does work for removing spider spots on the face? There's been lots of advertising hype lately.
Answer: "Although the mechanism by which it works is not known, there is some preliminary evidence that 1% vitamin K cream may be able to speed the fading of the bruise. This cream, which is available without a prescription, may also improve spider veins. Some plastic surgeons recommend eating a few slices of fresh pineapple daily. Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain (available as an individual supplement), which appears to hasten the resolution of the bruise--according to the plastic surgeons." (I must profess ignorance on this point, as I don't understand how an enzyme could survive the process of digestion, be absorbed, and exert a systemic effect. Try it if you like; it can't hurt.) I wish that I could be more specific and give you a definite answer to this question, but this topic is not well-researched.
